1. BIG Lego Set
Yes...really...every man dreams of a big Lego set. And thanks to the popularity of the brand, you can find a perfect set for every taste. A famous building from the Architecture line may be the best Christmas gift for a dad who already has everything. Some dads may prefer the Millenium Falcon (my friends have been asking for years how my wife lets me keep it in the living room:) You really can find everything from Lego...
Ugly Christmas tie is sure to brighten up the dads’ (or at least your) day. You can also buy him a proper tie, but the problem is that every man has a different taste. If you want to make sure that he likes it, then buy him a traditional tie my French luxury brand Hermes. You can’t go wrong with it!
Nothing is more Christmassy than dad slipping on comfortable slippers and watching “It’s a Wonderful Life” (or “Die Hard”) with the family.
A watch is always an excellent Christmas gift for dad. A man can never have too many watches. If you have money to spend, then opt for a classic Rolex. James Bond wore the Submariner in the infamous “Dr. No.” You could also buy an expensive watch that reflects his values and interests. For example, IWC has manufactured pilot’s watches since 1936. You can also find brands that have a connection with car races, sailing, or mountain climbing. But buying a watch for a dad doesn’t mean that you have to spend a lot of money. Calculator watches were big in the 1980s, and Casio was one of the most important producers.
Yes, many of us have the Netflix subscription, but I think that a quality-Blue-ray box has a nice feel to it. Your dad can present this next to his favorite books to show his taste. As you can see from the picture, I’m still very disappointed that they didn’t make that Friends movie...
There’s something magical about holding a nice crystal whiskey glass and sipping the Talisker Dark Storm in the cold winter evening. That said, many whiskey connoisseurs prefer a tulip-shaped glass because it directs all the aromas to the nose. Many fathers already have beautiful tumblers, but you can always give him an exciting bottle of scotch or bourbon. You can ask “single-cask” bottles from your local spirit shop. These releases are unique and don’t have to cost a fortune. You may aim a bottle to cost between 30 and 100 dollars.
If a man smokes cigars, he probably already has a nice desktop humidor. That said, a portable humidor is perfect if the family has a Christmas trip coming. It protects a couple of dads favorite cigars from drying up and from other damage. Cigars are also a great gift, but choosing can be challenging because there are so many different labels out there.
Audiobooks by Audible are a great way to go through the reading-list while jogging or driving the car. So this is one of the best Christmas gifts for dad. For a fixed monthly fee, your dad gets one audiobook per month, and he can listen to them even after cancelling the subscription. I've completed 20 books this year with Audible and really enjoy the service.
Board games have become extremely popular in recent years. One of the reasons is that people want to spend screen-free quality time with each other. As a new dad, I can’t wait for my son to be old enough for more sophisticated games. In the meantime, Exploding Kittens is a fun game to play with friends. If you want to give dad something that the whole family can enjoy, then Dixit is another excellent choice. It’s fun even after a couple of eggnogs in you.
Chess is one of the oldest and most complicated games. If you want the dad to be a great teacher to his son or grandson, then Santa should bring him this beautiful chess set, so he has time to get acquainted. You may also want to include a book about chess history (it should also contain the rules...you know..just in case he doesn't remember them:)
12. Video Game
Many dads are into video games, and you may want to check if his favorite has a new sequel. That said, vintage games are also delightful. You can find new releases of beloved old classics for PS4 and PC.
13. Playstation 4
Playstation 4 is perfect for dads if you don’t wish to seem them for a couple of weeks. Buy them this console and a good game, and he’s all set to have the time of his life.
Noise-cancelling wireless headphones are an excellent gift for all dads. If he still has small children, then these headphones allow him to have some quiet time or get some sleep before the important meeting the next day. If the noise around the house isn't a problem, then he can enjoy these while traveling the world. Noise-cancelling headphones make traveling by plane so much better.
Kindle allows the dad to have millions of books in his pocket, which he can read wherever he pleases. What I like most about Kindle is that it’s waterproof so you can read it even on the beach or by the pool. Although pads are great, they have all those apps and notifications to distract you. Kindle, on the other hand, offers a reading experience similar to traditional books.
16. Robot Vacuum
I admit that this isn’t for everybody, but a Robot vacuum can be a funny gift for dads who never clean the house or who always "surprise" their partners with practical household gadgets.
Kitchen knives deserve a book of their own. Let’s just say that after you have owned a quality-knife, it’s tough to go back to using cheap ones. If your dad loves to make food, then an excellent cooking knife is a perfect Christmas gift. Good knives are made of European or Japanese steel, and the sky is the limit when it comes to prices. That said, I have owned the Robert Welch steel knife for many years, and I love it. It’s relatively cheap, you can sharpen it, and the curved blade makes preparing food easy.
18. TIZIO Table Lamp
TIZIO table lamp is a great Christmas gift for dads who have everything (it isn’t cheap though). Richard Sapper created this lamp in 1972, and it’s in the collection of the Met.
19. Electric Razor
Electric razors can be the best Christmas gift for a dad. He may even not know that he wants one, but the chances are that his shaver has been in use for years. Technology has developed in recent years, and modern shavers are so much better than the older models. Braun Series 9 is one of the best electric shavers out there, and it’s perfect even for men with sensitive skin.
You know...I have something to tell you...Santa Claus is in a desperate need to find helpers. The world population has grown from 2 billion to almost 8 billion in the last 100 years, and he's swamped. And guess what?! Your dad can be one of the helpers with this costume set:)
P.S If you're looking presents for a first time dad, then I've written another article just for you
